Duct Tape Bandit?

May 27th 2008 22:41

If you ever watched the Red Green Show or Macgyver then you know that duct tape can fix just about anything. Too bad duct tape is not going to fix this man's criminal record. Yep, it's true, the duct tape bandit has been sentenced to 10 years behind bars. How did this man get the wonderful nickname of the Duct Tape Bandit? Why is this screwed up?

Well instead of finding a ski mask like your typical criminal, this man decided to wrap copious amounts of duct tape all around his head. ouch! Can you say no eyebrows? Unfortunately for this man the store owner also had a baseball bat wrapped in duct tape to club the dude over the head with. Ok, so he didn't get clubbed with a baseball bat wrapped in duct tape, but that would have been freaking awesome!

So learn from this guys mistakes you budding criminals out there. Go to Wal-mart and buy a ski mask for two bucks. Your eyebrows will thank you. Oh, or you could just not be an idiot, go to college, and make money like a real individual.

Fly the Naked Skies

Sorry ya all, I have no pictures of this one, and if I did I wouldn't be posting them here, but I'm sure you can find enough pictures of pilots and flight attendants elsewhere to keep you busy for awhile.

I worked in a hotel that housed flight crews long enough to know that flight crews are notoriously horny people. Case in point, a flight attendant once got so drunk in our hotel bar that she went out into the lobby and started flashing the plants like they were people...I'm sure the plants were appreciative. So it was no surprise to me to read that in Harrisburg Pennsylvania, a pilot and his flight attendant decided to go on a bit of a naked romp out in the forest near some restaurant.

Jeffrey Paul Bradford, 24, and Adrianna Grace Connor also 24 were arrested shortly after their exploits. Their excuse? We just wanted to do it in the woods. Hey, at least they were honest people. The pilot was also charged with stealing a flashlight out of the back of another persons vehicle. I think MSN put it best when they stated that maybe next time they should keep it in the cockpit.

Of course there is always the Darwin Awards, but people do stupid things every day. So instead of focusing on the real newsworthy things we wanted to create a place for the obscure postings such as people super gluing themselves to Wal-mart toilet seats, or fun random things like that. So check in often for the most obscure news, secrets, and stories that we can possibly dig up.

I attended Federation Square yesterday for the apology to the stolen generations. While standing among the thousands of others from all walks of life and backgrounds, I was struck by the ill-conceived phrase that has been thoughtlessly thrown around over the last decade: “why should I say sorry? I didn’t do anything.” I realised that this statement is another reason an apology is so important.
It is true that the majority of Australians had nothing to do with the actual physical removal of children. It is also true that the majority of Australians have done nothing to help right the wrongs and lessen the repercussions resulting from children being taken from their families.
Maybe the statement should be rephrased to read: “I am sorry because I didn’t do anything

Howard's return

March 17th 2008 09:14
John Howard has finally made his post election appearance. Maybe, not surprisingly, it just happened to be in Washington were he delivered the Irving Kristol lecture to the American Enterprise Institute. He condemned pulling back troupes from Iraq, called rolling back workchoices a mistake, praised Reagan and described Margaret Thatcher as ìthat other great warrior in our causeî.

Exactly whoís cause was Howard referring to? Surely not the cause of the Australian people as, everything he condemned the majority of us wanted and voiced our opinion at the ballot box. Are we to assume that for the last 11 years our Prime Minister has been fighting for a ìhigher causeî and we were just instruments in his long struggle? The more cynical of us may not be surprised at this question

A cardboard parliament

March 17th 2008 09:13
Unfortunately, itís not surprising the reaction Kevin Rudd received from the opposition whilst absent from a parliamentary sitting. Rather than making himself available for the kind of jocular outbursts we have come to expect from the sacred halls of federal parliament, he was visiting a NSW indigenous community and the flood-ravaged city of Mackay in Queensland.

In response to Rudd's no show, the federal opposition warned it will disrupt parliament again every Friday the house sits

ASIO officers face grilling

March 17th 2008 09:06
Attorney-General Philip Ruddock said (Age - Tuesday - 'ASIO officers face grilling') the greatest obligation on any government was to ensure the safety and security of the Australian community and intelligence agencies were under a great deal of pressure to provide protection.
After recent bungles of the immigration department and counter terrorism agencies I'm beginning to think that the 'master plan' is nothing more than randomly arresting people.
If it weren’t for the fact that some of these people's lives have been destroyed, the bungles in both the immigration department and counter terrorism agencies would seem almost comical. The fact that agencies that are apparently working overtime to protect our safety and freedom can make so many seemingly ridiculous mistakes is shocking. In particular, the ASIO officers who "kidnapped" Izhar ul-Haque. I assume that an ASIO officer is more experienced than a state Police officer and should, therefore be well versed in the laws regarding illegal imprisonment and how this can affect a court case

What’s so cool about rehab?

March 29th 2007 00:53
Ben Cousins has a drug problem, so does Pete Doherty. The AFL has a drug problem so does Tinseltown. Though intricately linked that doesn’t mean that every player or celebrity who has ever taken an illicit drug ever is in desperate need of rehab as the moralisers would have you believe.

Players and others in similar positions society are role models in society whether they like it or not, that is beyond question. These people certainly do need to live up to certain standards for the thousands of wide eyed ten year olds who worship them

Terrific Tabloid Tele Tales

March 13th 2007 04:29
For years now there has been a significant gap in the Australian television market.

From 5pm through to 7.30pm there has only been a mixture of serious news and current affairs, moderately amusing game shows or fictional drama or comedy

If the fruit and vegie growers and their cohorts of well versed nutritionists are to be taken at their word we would all be dead of a little known condition called fruit and vege poisoning.

Five serves of veggies a day and two serves of fruit is the recommendation
