Shuttle's Only Space Toilet Breaks Down

So I don't understand the whole idea of only one toilet for five people stuck on a space station in the middle of space. Did no one think of what could happen if that toilet broke down?

Well, it happened today. Sorry guys and gals, you get to hold your poo for the next 14 months. Wouldn't that suck? Well luckily they have another toilet on their escape craft, but it still seems weird to me that NASA was not smart enough to think about the possibility of a broken toilet. NASA may say that all they build is top of the line products, and that they don't make crap. Well NASA, your astronauts do! So how 'bout making at least 2 toilets on the shuttles from now on?
